These terms govern your use of MyPolity. They are written to be readable, not to obscure your rights or our responsibilities.
Who can use MyPolity
MyPolity is a free, public resource for United States residents. You may use it for personal, non-commercial civic purposes. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
Accuracy of information
MyPolity pulls data from official government sources — Congress.gov, state legislatures, the Federal Election Commission, Secretaries of State, and similar agencies. We work to keep it current, but we cannot guarantee that every piece of information is complete, correct, or up to date.
For anything consequential — legal deadlines, election registration, tax matters — verify directly with the relevant government agency. Links to official sources are provided throughout the site.
Non-partisan use
MyPolity presents information about candidates, officials, and legislation without editorial endorsement of any party or position. You may use MyPolity content for personal civic engagement. You may not use data extracted from MyPolity to build partisan targeting, campaign voter databases, or political advertising products.
No scraping
Automated scraping, crawling, or bulk downloading of MyPolity content is prohibited without prior written permission. Reasonable personal use — saving a page, sharing a link — is always fine.
Accounts
If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping your credentials secure. You may not create accounts on behalf of others without their consent. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that misuse the platform or violate these terms.
Government portal
The government portal is available only to verified public officials or their authorized staff. If you register as an official, you represent that you have the authority to do so and that the information you provide about your jurisdiction is accurate.
No warranty
MyPolity is provided as-is. We make no warranty, express or implied, about the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any particular purpose of any information on this site. Use of this site is at your own discretion.
Limitation of liability
CivicOS and its contributors are not liable for any damages resulting from your use of MyPolity, including reliance on information that turns out to be incorrect or out of date.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be communicated by email to account holders before they take effect. Continued use of MyPolity after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
