Republican
Rebecca Kleefisch served as Wisconsin's Lieutenant Governor from 2011 to 2019 under Governor Scott Walker. She ran for the Republican gubernatorial nomination in 2022, losing in the primary. She is among the leading Republican candidates for governor in 2026 as Governor Tony Evers faces reelection. A former television news anchor and small business owner, she has built her platform on school choice, fiscal conservatism, and opposition to what she calls government overreach.
Democratic
Mandela Barnes served as Wisconsin's Lieutenant Governor from 2019 to 2023 under Governor Tony Evers. He ran for U.S. Senate in 2022, narrowly losing to incumbent Ron Johnson by less than one percentage point in one of the most competitive Senate races of the cycle. A Milwaukee native, he served in the Wisconsin State Assembly before becoming lieutenant governor. He is the leading Democratic candidate for governor in 2026 as Governor Evers chose not to seek a third term.
Republican
Tom Tiffany has represented Wisconsin's 7th Congressional District since 2020, covering the vast majority of northern Wisconsin. Before Congress he served in the Wisconsin State Senate. A strong conservative from Minocqua in the north woods, he has a background in river tourism and natural resource industries. He is the leading Republican candidate for governor in 2026, with strong support from the party's Trump-aligned base.
